On October 14, in the Bright Feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin, we celebrate
Defender of Ukraine Day!
Dear colleagues and students!
We sincerely and cordially congratulate you on the Day of the Defender of Ukraine – a holiday that has absorbed the rich and glorious traditions of ancestors. A holiday that embodies the courage and heroism of the defenders of the native land throughout the centuries-old Ukrainian history.
The celebration of the Day of the Defender of Ukraine on this day is closely connected with the tradition of honoring the Ukrainian army at the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin. Our whole history testifies to the special love of the Blessed Virgin for Ukraine and preserves many testimonies of how the Blessed Virgin Mary defended our people with the highest will, gave the soldiers strength in the fight against the enemy.
Under the Protection of the Mother of God, freedom-loving Cossacks defended their homeland during the most difficult times of foreign enslavement. The era of the Cossacks became the pride and adornment of Ukrainian culture, glorified Ukraine, made it known throughout the world.
Under the mighty Protection of the Mother of God, the Ukrainian army is still being revived. The color of the Ukrainian nation – its faithful sons who defend Ukraine with body, heart and soul – are worthy descendants of our ancestors, they gave a worthy rebuff to the Russian aggressor in the struggle for sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine.
Today, Defenders of Ukraine is an example of patriotism for each of us, a clear testament to the unity of all generations of our people.
Defending Ukraine is a vocation and an oath to oneself of the entire Ukrainian people: volunteers, doctors, military, civilians who support the army. This is the strength of our defenders – the strength to do what sometimes seems impossible, the common strength of insubordination and victory!
Let's remember! Only those people are worthy of their own state, which preserves the memory of their sons and daughters who gave their lives for the freedom of the Fatherland. So let peace and harmony reign in our homeland. May the Blessed Virgin Mary continue to protect Ukraine with her Intercession!
We wish all of us Cossack deeds, victory and deep spirituality. Let the desire to defend their will and independence continue to be an indispensable feature of Ukrainians.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the defenders of Ukraine!
