Especially many memorable and at the same time tragic dates fall in January. And despite the pain, we must remember them. Remember in the name of the future. January 27 is Holocaust Remembrance Day. It was on this day in 1945 that the prisoners of the largest Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, in Auschwitz, were released. On November 1, 2005, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring January 27 the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. In this regard, an educational event "Our memory, our pain – the Holocaust" was held at our school. Holding their breath, students listened to a speech by Waldman Maria Abramovna, a member of the presidium of the City Council of Veterans, an honorary veteran of Uman, head of the All-Ukrainian Union of War Participants, who introduced them to the Holocaust. related to the tragedy in Babyn Yar and other concentration camps located in Europe. Her performance was accompanied by a display of photos and videos. At the end of her speech, Maria Abramovna stressed that we need the memory of the Holocaust so that our children are never victims or indifferent observers of any manifestations of hostility and violence.
Another memory lesson was held at the college on January 29, dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the Battle of Kruty.
The heroic defense of the Kruty station back in 1918 became for Ukrainians a kind of symbol of the struggle for an independent state. The Kruty drama is an event that is too painful for all of us, as its victim was the young color of the Ukrainian nation and its hope – students and high school students of Kyiv universities and gymnasiums. A drama that is painfully reminiscent of modern events in eastern Ukraine, when in a war with the same enemy as 100 years ago, the best sons died defending the independence of their homeland. The Battle of Kruty deservedly occupies a special place in the history of the Ukrainian national liberation struggles of 1918-1921 and in the Ukrainian history of the twentieth century in general. This battle became a symbol of heroic resistance of Ukrainian youth, a symbol of indomitability and sacrifice in the name of independence and freedom. On January 29, on the Day of Remembrance, history teachers Kovtun TI and Korzhem Yu.M. A general college event was held, the participants of which remembered and honored one of the greatest feats in the history of our country – the heroic deed of young people in the name of their homeland. At the same time, they mentioned the current defenders of Ukraine, who defend its independence and territorial integrity in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. With tears in their eyes, all those present honored the memory of Kruty's heroes and the memory of the current hero of Ukraine, Uman, Major Andriy Kyzyl, who died by a tragic coincidence, defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers exactly two years ago-January 29, 2017. This Day will forever remain bright in our memory. A day of feat and example for future and present generations. Day of hope and love for the Fatherland. Heroes' Day.
