On February 6, teachers of the economic department Babiy IV and Bovkun NM together with the staff of the Uman Central Library held a legal discussion-reservation "Act and its echo" for first-year students of group 1.5.
The level of juvenile delinquency in Ukraine is quite high. Every year, about 22,000 children under the age of 18 come into conflict with the law. More than 8,000 children across the country have been convicted of crimes under the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and about 1,400 children are serving sentences in correctional facilities. Many of them have already had previous convictions.
Therefore, it is simply necessary to apply procedures for juveniles that are appropriate to their age, level of development or maturity, which focus on crime prevention, ensure that juveniles are aware of their responsibility for their actions, and help them deal with the causes of crimes and try to prevent them from committing crimes in the future.
Alla Ivanovna Shevchenko, Chief Specialist of the Uman Local Center for Free Legal Aid, was invited to the educational hour. She told the students who these minors are, outlined the types of misdemeanors and the types of responsibility for them, explained what is the basis for criminal liability and what are the types of punishment for minors. The video "How minors serve their sentences" was watched.
Measures in this direction give young people the opportunity to think about whether it is worth wasting their lives by going through the edge of the Criminal Code.
